Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 high temps?

Hello,

I've just build my own PC with a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212. Right now when it's just in idle i got average temps between 37-40 celcius. Is this normal? I have mounted it tight and applied thermal paste. Should i worry with these temps?

Those are sexy temps O_O

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

This doesn't matter, those are fine idle temps for any CPU

What are your temps under load?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Thank you so much guys. I was getting worried that it might be too high for idle!

I havn't tried yet. Which software is best to use for testing? Prime95?

i5 4690

There are many out there, I have Aida64 (Registered), I think the trial still allows testing, but some numbered values may be hidden...

I'm sure prime95 works great, unless someone has alternatives.

My 4690 (watercooled /w 120MM single fan) NEVER gets over 60*c at all when encoding or pushing it to 100% in real world, usually 57-59*c MAX.

But in stresstesters it can go past 60*c and up to 67-70*c as a temp-spike, but quickly recovers a degree or two that same second...

I'd expect your Hyper keeping it easily around 70-75*c with a slow rpm fan, less with faster-rpm fans. Before I had my W/C I had the Hyper212 Rev1.0 and it held 72*c MAX @ 4.17Ghz (4690+BCLK.OC) but I had aggessive fan curves pushing faster rpm's to stay at 72*c or lower.

i disagree, cpu does matter

I have a AMD Phenom II 1090t @ 3.6ghz (6 cores)

Scythe Ninja 3 cooler

at idle its 18c-22c

under heavy rendering load its 40-45c

and this is at 1000rpm idle 1200rpm load

(kinda proud of these temps)

If OP wants to trouble shoot or get his temps lower it could be other factors like case airflow as well

Phenom II X6 1090T @3.6ghz , EVGA GTX 770 SC, 8GB Hyper-X ram, Adata SX900, WD Black, Corsair HX850, LG IPS234, Logitech G9x, Logitech X-230, Netgear R7000

At the moment i'm waiting for my fan controller so my back exhaust fan isn't working :D Hopefully i will get even better temps when that is up and running. :)

If Aida64 free version is suitable for testing in load i will use that i guess. If not then Prime95 i think. :)

It's just a question. I'm well aware what good temps are.

They seem fine. What are your load temps however?

I've just ran Prime95 for 1 hour with RealTimeTemp so look at the temps. I will say it was at about 70 celsius a lot of the time. Sometimes it went Down to 65 and sometimes up to 75 and one time 80 celsius.

Is this looking alright?

By the way, RealTimeTemp is telling my idle temps are at 32-33 celsius. I guess that's even better. :)

That does sound a bit high, though for load. It's still a safe temp but I don't think it should be that high. Are you in a hot office/room area? Which thermal paste application method did you use?

those temps could be lower

I usually idle around 30-33C with the evo on the 4690k...

I have a feeling he didn't apply the thermal paste properly..or the heat sink could be a little tighter

I used the rice method that i've seen Linus use. :)

When i'm looking at RealTimeTemp now it is idle at 32-33C. I dont think i can make the Evo more tight or else i will have to get the MB out.

Is it possible that I have mounted the cooler wrongly? I mean the screw are very tight and the fan in facing the RAM blocks but if i look at the cooler from a horizontal view i can sense that the cooler is a bit slanted towards my GPU. It's not by a lot but it's visible if you look carefully. Is this a issue? Could i possible have mounted the four screw bracket the goes inbetween the cooler the wrong way or?
