Ultra or High Settings

Go to solution Solved by Mattrixx,

I have already written about games i meant.

They are=

Battlefield Series

Far Cry Series

Call Of Duty Series

Medal Of Honor Series

Need For Speed Series

Series means latest or past 2-3years games

What I do is pick a preset and then mess with some settings individually and see which ones hurt performance hard and which I'd like to have. For instance, I'll select the ultra preset for a game, and then turn down MSAA to 4x (or even 2x), since I personally usually don't need or care for more than that. Then I'll see which shadow settings hurt performance a lot and turn them down if I need to. Then I go through the rest. I'll turn up Anistropic filtering if I can, and usually grass qualities/densities are a good place to get some performance if I need it. For some settings though, I'll keep them on if I think it adds enough to the image, like soft shadowing. Just find the settings you really like, and which ones hit performance hard, and then try to strike a balance.

Basically just do that and you'll be good to go. I usually don't have to change much though, as I have a 970 now.

Depends on the game.

Depends on the game, often: there is a difference.

But not in all games

other than added detail, better lighting, and better shadows, not much...

your frame rate might take a hit though...

your frame rate might take a hit though...

And Level of Detail, texture quality, mesh quality, post processing, etc.

Those presets generally change the whole gamut of options within a game and are hand picked by the developers of the game.

You mean games like battlefield

For example, in Skyrim it barely makes a difference. The game is not that pretty, the lights are meh and the textures too.

Witcher 3, it makes quite a bit more difference, because it's so demanding and looks very nice.

BF4 hovers somewhere between those 2. Doesn't matter a ton, but looks nicer.

Just get settings with which you get a stable good framerate with and stick with it

It's up to each development team to decide what presets to group their detail settings under. And you really shouldn't be relying on the presets anyway, results are almost always better when you tweak settings individually. In a lot of games there are 1–2 settings that really hammer performance—often if you're able to single those out you can get much better detail in other areas than if you defaulted to, say, "Medium."

Slightly better textures, slightly better lighting, slightly better AA, slightly better everything.

But yeah, it depends on the game.

It depends on the game but is the difference noticeable by a big margin or not.

I have searched many websites which say their is not much difference between medium to ultra settings.

What part of it depends don't you understand? ask a specific game then maybe people can give you an answer that will satisfy you.
