I just did the upgrade of my dreams (Asus X99 Pro/Usb 3.1, i7 5820k, 16gb of Corsair Vengence LPX at 2666Mhz, GTX 760 (Soon to be sli with another 760) Corsair Rm 850w psu, and a Corsair H100i GTX cpu cooler) and I'm not sure what to do. It blows through games like BF4 and Arma 3, but I want to do more with it like recording and editing videos, or maybe something else. I'm basically looking for something that'll put this upgrade to use. Thanks for suggestions in advance :)

Well i've had the 760 for a while and i plan to sli it soon anyway, wasn't gonna kill half my budget on a gpu

Depending on what your end goal was - you really should have.

If PC Gaming at high resolutions and frame rates was your goal, then a 760 is ridiculously underpowered for the rest of your system. Even dual 760's in SLI is still going to be imbalanced.

If I were you, I would look at selling the 760 on the 2nd hand market, and picking up something like a GTX 980 Ti or a Fury X.

Otherwise, as others have mentioned, other possible things you could do with the system include Folding, or using it for Video Editing/rendering, 3D modelling, etc.

I'll see, It's just a lot of money and the 760 runs most of the current games I like to play (Like BF4, csgo, rust, Arma, etc.), but i think you are right, at some point i will probably replace it, but at this point i don't know if i can drop 500+ USD on a single component, especially after spending $1,100 on the previous upgrade... It's not that i don't want something like a 980, or a 980 ti, Just at this point its going to be a while before i get it, so i thought for about $200, an sli'd 760 setup would work better.. but everyone else seems to think otherwise...

The GTX 760 is a 2GB card. In SLI, you're likely going to run into a situation where two of them will become VRAM bottlenecked.

To be fair, you spent almost $400 on your CPU, which for gaming, is stupidly overpowered compared to your GPU. For gaming only, an i7 4790k would have given you near identical performance.

But of course, most people here don't consider other applications besides gaming. Your i7 5820k is much better at multitasking, so would be useful in the video editing/rendering side of things, photo editing/manipulation, etc.

So as long as you branch out your computer usage to take advantage of your multitasking capabilities, then it's not a waste at all.

I'm simply saying that the 760 is totally imbalanced for the rest of the system. Your system has a ridiculously kickass CPU, and a pretty mediocre GPU. Adding a second 760 will close the gap a bit, but SLI configs are always inferior to single GPU configs, especially for stability and smoothness of gameplay.

Thank you, and yes, one of the main points of this upgrade was so that i could branch out into stuff like photo/video editing (Once i get the software), and now that i know how to do it, folding, which is actually pretty cool.

No, this wasn't a strict gaming upgrade, or else i would've probably gone for better gpu and possibly less ram, or a 4970k like you said. And that's also why i posted this, to see what else I could find to do with my "kickass" cpu lol.

Awesome :) Well I'm glad that you thought your build out, in that regard. I'm also glad you stuck to your guns, since SO OFTEN in this forum, people assume all you'll ever do with your PC is gaming. So anytime someone goes with an X99 build, people lose their shit over it.

Though it always helps to explain in the OP that you'll be doing other things besides gaming (for example, like you did!) which does help reduce the number of people saying "LOL GET AN i5!"

Exactly, I appreciate the fact that you were one of the few people to let myself explain my intentions, instead of trying to rip me a new one :)

Well I had a feeling, plus you did mention you wanted to take better advantage of your CPU in the opening post.

Plus, I like to think I'm not a complete ass ;)
