Will Microsoft sell Windows 10 digitally?

Currently, the only way to get your hands on Windows *legitimately* is to buy it in its boxed version. I wonder whether or not Microsoft would sell Windows 10 digitally in the form of a CD Key and ISO download.

 

NOTE: Please do not refer to G2A or reddit softwareswap.

Sure. Like they do for 8.1.

Wow. Didn't realize these existed. But isn't this $20 more expensive than the boxed version? Which is odd since it's "cheaper to sell", as it doesn't include a DVD.

it's because it's the official version, microsoft gives no f.. retailers lower prices because of competition.

Looking at the description, this is written:

"Important: Windows 8.1 full version is for Windows 7 users only."

 

Which leads me to believe this is the executable upgrade for Windows 7 users.

If you're referring to the "Currently running Windows Vista or XP? You will need to buy Windows 8.1 on DVD and perform a clean installation. Click here to learn more and see if upgrading is right for your machine.", doesn't this mean that if you want to make a clean installation you'd need to buy the DVD?

no you get the key. it's just making a point that you need a clean install.

windows 7 can upgrade. 

Windows 8 can upgrade for free.

xp or vista can't upgrade need to reinstall.

you can use usb media.

Is my version even eligible for a free upgrade? The windows 8.1 OS I'm using came from a pre-built PC my parents have but they prefered win7

 

if you have a legit key, then yes it should be.
