Defining Silent

texhornsaj

So this is my 2nd build and my first with a custom water cooling loop. I'm really excited and somewhat nervous about the water cooling lol. Oh and btw the name of this build is not set in stone. Any suggestions or comments about anything would be greatly appreciated.

Without further ado here is my parts list. Also just FYI I am trying to stick with a quiet and black/white/orange theme.

Case: Fractal Design Define R5

Motherboard: Asus X99 Deluxe

CPU: Intel 5930K

GPU: probably 980ti, really like the HOF

Ram: Kingston HyperX Fury black

PSU: Evga Supernova 1000 P2

PSU Cables: CableMod orange/blk

Hard Drives: Samsung 850 Evo 500gb

Fans: Corsair AF140 quiet edition (orange painted rings)

Water Cooling

Cpu waterblock: Ek Supremacy Evo acetal/nickel black

Radiator: Alphacool Nexxxos st30, so far

Fans: Corsair Sp120 quiet edition (orange painted rings)

Pump/Res: XSPC Photon 170 D5

Tubing: Primo flex advanced LRT 3/8 x 5/8 orange

Fittings: Bitspower Matte Black Compression

Mouse: Steelseries Sensei

Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB

Monitor: Looking at LG ultra wide 3440 x 1440 ips but still up in the air.

I think that's it lol. Let me know if I have missed anything. I already have quite a bit of the parts and will be adding photos as I get them (sorry in advance, I only have my phone to take pics).

if you want "silent" you should get quieter fans, or at least run those corsair fans that 40%

also the HOF cooler is not particularly quiet so you should probably WC that in the future

when you mount the pump/res use double sided foam tape or velcro, this will dampen any vibrations from transferring to the case

dont use primochill tubing, they have plasticizer seeping issues

get something else :)

Looks badass.

Only thing I would refrain from is the 3440 x 1440 Monitor. They're nice as shit, but I think a triple 27" 1080p or 1440p would look better, be more practical, and way more fun.

The res/pump came with foam pads so that is all good. Also I was referring to the water cooled version HOF. It's all white and looks awesome.

Problem with three monitors is I don't currently have enough room on my desk for PC and 3 monitors. I will be going to a microcenter in Dallas to check out the ultra wide monitors before I pick one up tho.

OK so this is the first set of pictures. The parts I had on hand, painting the rings on some of the fans, mounting of the radiator and fans, cpu, motherboard, psu, res/pump, and some cables. Random I know but it's hard to wait with all this in front of me.

Very much considering clear tubing and orange liquid. What brand tubing would you recommend?

Aah the jokes that could be made.

build looks good so far. I love that Mobo. How did you find the cablemod sleeving?

I'm interested in custom sleeving cables on my next build, but not sure on the difficulty.

Besides the gpu I think they are my favorite. They look absolutely awesome. I considered doing it on my own as well but I dont have the right tools. Can't say enough about how good they look tho. I kind of want to route them bad just so I can see them more.

http://www.performance-pcs.com/mayhems-pastel-coolant-1-liter-orange.html#Additional-Information

Is this the liquid you was talking about? Do you mix it with water? Does it need silver coils or anything like that?

yeah

it comes with all the chemicals it needs, you shouldnt add any coils or biocides or anything

Guys - it was Primochill Pro LRT which had plasticizer issues. Their newer Advanced LRT does not, as can be discovered from a quick google search.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

And now I have the Dell U3415W. Here are some pics. Let me know of if you have any questions.

First impression is wow it's huge. Picture is absolutely beautiful and seeing it for the first time is simply amazing. With just limited time using it I already can't imagine going back to my old monitor, it's just that good. So much real estate too. I can have multiple things going and still have left over space. If you have any questions just let me know
