8 cores, 4 threads?

Would it be possible for Intel or AMD to make a CPU with more cores than threads. I think it might be an awesome idea, because it will allow 2 cores to work on the same thing together, so you get some extremely powerfull threads.

What do you guys think?

For the most part hyper-threading does that - but Intel's Xeon Phi can execute 4 threads on a single core.
