HD 7970 good for new games coming up?

Guest Console Peasant

I'm no doubt due for a GPU upgrade, poor old 270 just doesnt cut it anymore, such is life.

Anyways I found a 7970 that my friend was selling for $280AUD and I was going to pick it up, just wandering if theres something better for around that price? I dont really want to upgrade for a while.. Max is probably $400 (I'm getting a new case if i get the 7970)

And isn't the 7970 just an r9 290? I really should wait until AMD releases their new cards but this is a pretty nice deal, even if it only has 3gb

edit: sorry forgot to list what games

probably things like batman, witcher 3, crysis 3, mostly 2015 games

270 to 7970 is not much of an upgrade imo.

It's a 280x, so it should do good for modern titles. I would pick it up, then sell the 270 and wait for the 300 series or something.

I'm a fucking AMD kawaii weeaboo desu I have seen the light

damni thought it was 290... i agree

a 7970 is a 280x

& yea you can play upcoming games with a 7970, low to high settings.

with 400$ just buy a gtx 970 or wait for benchmarks on r9 390/x

I think it is since the 280x is a 7970. a friend of mine as a 7970 and it performs so much better than a 270x
