Cougar shows off new splash-proof keyboards at Computex 2015

Guest

I don't know why this was missed, but here it is anyways:

Cougar showed off two new keyboards called the 400K and the 450K. Both these keyboards feature pseudo-mechanical switch. They are basically membrane switches under the hood, but provide the tactile bump of a mechanical switch. The membrane switch is key for these keyboards (unintentional pun) for being splash-proof. However, the 450K differentiates from its smaller brother by including back-lighting with three color options (no rainbow monkey-business here) and support for Cougar UIX software for custom key mapping. Both these keyboards come at an entry-level price point, providing users the tactile feel of a mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank, with the 400K coming at a mere $60 price tag (couldn't find the price for the 450K).

400K:

450K in all its splash-proof glory:

My take on this: Personally I am really excited for this. I am not a really big fan of mechanical switch, especially due to it's noise, but I really like the big key-caps they usually have as well as their rigidity. These seem to fill all the boxes for me. Also, spill-proof means I can have my dinner in front of my computer while watching the WAN show without worrying about spills :P . Win win.

Btw, this is my first news post. Hope you guys like it.

I would like to point out that a large percentage of the internet is porn

Not at all related to this ...."splash" proof keyboard....just wanted to point it out

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

yes i can read but before i got to that part of the title i was thinking cougar had slept with a kid in high school or something since that seems to be pretty common occurrence in the US compared to here at least.

Good point. I think once you spill those kind of drinks, you will be left with sticky sugary blobs. Then you can easily wash those areas with water and everything should be A-OK.

So funny. I emptied a bottle of diet pepsi into my (deceased) Cougar keyboard a couple months back.

My original Blackwidow was killed with an accidental pepsi spill. THANKS CAT, THANKS. Since then I wanted a mechanical waterproof keyboard. It's interesting but it's not quite there yet. We have the technology or at least the brains to make an actual waterproof mechanical keyboard, dowit!
