New Gaming PC build

This summer I'm planning on building my own gaming PC but I am completely new to PC building. I have a £500 budget which does not include perhiperals. I want to be able to play Cities Skylines, modded version of minecraft, civ 5 and perhaps Far Cry. Planning on having 2 monitors and also want an SSD to store the operating system and a Hard drive for media. Suggestions on what hardware I should get please!

Do you want the monitors included in that budget?

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

I would wait for some more builds coming in before buying anything. Most of the guys in the forum are better at matching the right components to a budget.

Never get the v300. You avoid it like the plague. Addtionally, the I3's hyperthreading aren't going to help you here. Half those games need alot of cores/threads for a better and less lagging experience.

The first PC I built had an FX-6300 and a GTX 960. It worked well, and was in the £500 range. However, a lot of people will disagree with the choice of an AMD.  :D I migrated to an Intel as fast as possible.

Unfortunately, for your choice, more cores (at least 4) would be better. I think it goes without saying that Far Cry 4 doesn't even RUN on a dual-core (that is if you're playing the latest addition in that series).

I would say there are three ways to go about this:

  1. Build an AMD based system and reap the benefits of more cores (albeit much slower cores) and have okay performance. There is the downside of little choice in terms of CPU upgrade and a frankly ageing architecture (if you go for the FX-series).
  2. Build an Intel system with a Z97 board and a low end i3. You lose the ability to have more cores, and this will show, but the hyperthreading will help in some situations. Also, you have the motherboard to pick up a faster unlocked i5/i7 later on down the road (dependant on your needs).
  3. Build an Intel Broadwell system (i5-5675C? I haven't got a f****** clue) without a discrete graphics card. This may seem like an odd suggestion, but hear me out. It will cost approximately the same as just about any CPU and GPU combination (within reason), and you will have to turn down the settings. However, when you pair a discrete graphics card with it - holy s*** that would be an awesome build. Not to mention that you've already got a CPU platform that will last many years, as it's pretty much the same performance of the unlocked Haswell chips. Except they've got pretty kickass intergrated graphics.

For an entry level system, I would say the Intel Broadwell build. You definitely won't see the same immediate return, but I'd argue that you'd save money (and hassle) in the long run.

@ADZ_123_!"£

Sry can't quote you for some reason. You don't have any harddrive and a 600W PSU seems extremely overkill for this build.

I think 128GB SSD storage has to be a enough for a 500£ build even though price/peer is really good right now on some of the 256GB.
