I'm curious as to whether is might be more sensible than a full loop.

I'm considering putting together a future build, X99 and a pair of 980ti's (or better, we'll see what the future holds) in something like a Corsair 780T and moving my current GPU, CPU, and memory into a 380T so i can have a powerful PC on the go, but an even more powerful one at home.

In making this move I'm thinking of moving my R1 Ultimate into the 780T build as it wont fit in the 380T. As a result, my CPU cooling is pretty much solved. So, Would making a custom loop solely for the two 980ti's be sensible?

I know I could use AIOs or a hybrid, but I kinda want to make a custom loop for the sake of a custom loop.

You can but it's basically an extra $75-100 for a CPU waterblock and in the big scheme of things not a lot of money for a fully custom loop at that point to not have it in.

As you suggested the AIO with GPU bracket will save a lot of money but still give you great performance.

This.

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

As others have said adding a CPU block would be pretty cheap, however a loop just for your GPU's does make sense because they will stay cooler than in a loop with a cpu as well. All in all its pretty close and I would leave it up to weather you like your air heatsink or want a waterblock for astetics.

Been using that block for a few years now and haven't had any issues with it. Works pretty damn well for the price of it.
