(Yes this does mean overkill stuff like 5960x because reasons)

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

i prefer the i5, because of the integrated graphics. (extra monitors, intel quicksync for recording/livestreaming, and emergency backup in case things catch fire)

 

ps: thats the difference with the quad core xeons right?

That's right, for xeons that end in 1 or 0 i.e. 1230, 1231 etc. For xeons with a 5 or 6 at the end i.e. 1245, 1246 etc. they will have integrated graphics.

OP see if you can get the xeon e3 1246 v3. If you can't, and can't afford an i7, I'd go for the i5. I was in a similar situation myself, but I've opted to cough up for an i7.

The xeons are also clocked slightly lower (depends on the model but in most cases) and cant be overclocked. But they are significantly cheaper and perform equally on equal clock speeds. For example, the 1231v3 Xeon vs i7 4770 are pretty much identical, yet the 1231v3 is $60 cheaper.
