Is this a cpu problem?

In games like gta 5 and chivalry (pretty much all im playing at the moment) im getting horrible slow texture loading

 

in gta 5 im getting objects appearing out of no wear and everything in the distance is just a bunch of dots, in chivalry i get really slow texture loading

 

i know this isn't graphics card problem because i recently upgraded from r7 260x to gtx 960

 

my cpu is fx-6300 is there a way to fix this?

Lower your texture quality and try again, I doubt it's your CPU

fx-6300

gtx 960 2gb

8 gb single channel ram (really old)

450 watt psu

You're going to get a lot of replies saying it's your CPU. That's not the case, I have an FX-6300 and GTX 970 and I've had no problems with GTA V

 

What does GTA V say your VRAM usage is? It should tell you in the graphical settings

To me it looks like texture aliasing combined with a low draw distance, or low tessellation setting

 

Can you give a RAM model number?

You'll have poor saturation, but it's not immediatly the culprit in this case. In fact, i'm not sure what the problem is for starters.

slow loading textures normally mean slow hdd...are you on a ssd or hdd? is your ssd/hdd almost full?

the more stuff you have on your hdd the more files your system has to fish thru to find the textures to load...having less files on your hdd would speed up the texture loading....i went thru this same thing with bf4 and advanced warfare lol

You will have to get rid of some old stuff and then do a disk defragmentation.

I wouldn't lower texture quality at all, normal textures are for 1GB cards. The highest should be used on any 2GB and higher card, as the image quality takes an enormous step up as texture quality is improved and there is virtually no performance penalty on a 2GB card.

GTA V is always going to have some pop-in, especially when flying, it's inevitable with an open world game like this.

 

With an FX-6300 + GTX 960 I would try doing half refresh rate adaptive vsync to 30 fps in the Nvidia control panel, and then crank settings along with some MSAA to use your GPU's power when syncing to 30 fps. Your CPU may not be powerful enough to try to stream the game world in at 60 fps. Try 30 fps and see if that helps, it'll take a lot of burden off the CPU doing that.
