Local network streaming question

Why is streaming things though your local network limited by your internet plan? Its not really connected to the internet so shouldnt it go as fast as your device can send the data? For example nvidia game streaming requires a fast internet but its between devices on your local network not the internet.

Only if you're streaming through the internet while you're out of the house for example? Shield streaming should be completely independent from your internet connections.

ok i was super confused when people told me getting faster internet will make it faster while im on my local network

should clarify more: even if you have an all-in-one modem/router/switcvh/access point box from your ISP, it's made up of the following parts:

 

- whatever cable the isp uses from the wall

 

- modem

 

- router

 

- switch (thats the 4 ports on the back)

 

- access point (in practisce, also connected to the switch, just like anything you plug into the ports)

 

 

if you do shield streaming, it doesnt even make it to the router part of the AIO box.

 

example: my access point is a router/switch/accespoint combo, that has DHCP turned off so it doesnt give out IP addresses.

 

i plug the uplink to the main router into one of the switch ports, and everything that connects to the wifi gets redirected to the main router without any questions asked.
