MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z showing different temps

Shoob

Hey guys,

GPU-Z and Afterburner show different temps. Does anyone have an idea why is that and which one is more trustworthy? My card is Asus R9 280x DirectCUII.

If it's not under load, than almost certainly Afterburner is right. There's no way it could be 74 degrees now. Maybe your mouse is over an area and it's saying those temps? I can't bring up GPU-Z now, so i don't remember if it does that. Make sure GPU-Z is updated.

I don't do signatures.

GPU-Z is updated and I selected it to show the max temp, MSI Afterburner shows max temperature too. There are 6 degrees differance between the two.

GPU-Z and GPU Tweak showed 10 degree difference in max temps after playing Witcher 3 for 10-15 minutes. 62 versus 72 degrees.
