Never played Fallout: New Vegas. Should I?

Blarghinston

Hi everybody.

Let me preface with I played FO3, but I found the story more than a bit uninteresting and the gameplay a little shallow.

Are these things improved upon in New Vegas? Is it just simply...better?

The complete experience is on sale for 11.99 on Steam currently.

Thanks!!

Fallout: New Vegas takes Fallout 3, and improves on a few of its mechanics, and then takes the fun and throws it out of the window, disregarding it for the implementation of tacked-on casino simulation. Fallout 3 is the best Fallout, and New Vegas comes in as some sort of joke.

Ahem, in my opinion.

SNIP

NV, the story is different, a bit more focused maybe, there is more to do and the gameplay and shooting mechanics are vastly improved - I preferred the atmosphere and environment of 3 though

However, if you dont like fallout 3, i doubt you will enjoy NV that much, as its still a largely similar experiance

Shame, Fallout 3 and NV are some of my favourite gaming experiences, but we all have different tastes

Honestly I enjoyed them both equally and have spend a lot of hours in both, I thing I prefer the atmosphere and feeling of 3, the setting was just perfect

New Vegas is quirky, and I did enjoy it, as well as the MUCH improved mechanics, "gameplay" is arguably better, but as far as story and characters etc its arguably weaker and more forgettable than 3

I think new Vegas has much better gameplay especially due to the true iron sights or whatever, but I always have and always will prefer FO3. It has a much better story, map, and atmosphere. The reason I can't enjoy new Vegas as much is because of the added annoyances like factions, faction armor, etc.

I enjoyed Fallout New Vegas a lot. Fallout 3 is more of a personal story (son looking for his father), while New Vegas is a lot more 'political', the experience depends a lot on which side you choose when, there's a very thin line between being liked or hated by a certain faction, hell, you can even get two of the larges opposing factions to like you at the same time, depending only on how you react when you first encounter them. Each faction has it's own story line, which somethings, in order to discover and explore, requires another play-though.
