Any suggestions in saving money but keeping relatively same or better performance would be cool.

I would be using this computer for frequent gaming, recording gameplay, editing, and rendering gameplay.

 

This is just a plan because I don't have any money right now to spend on a new computer :( but it would give me a good idea of how much money I would need.

IF your not keen on overclocking or don't mind living with the acceptable power of a stock i5 (which most games don't bottleneck anyway) get a $60 Asrock Mobo and get the non-K variant i5,  you can then put the $160 you save onto a better GPU which you will notice a lot more.

I will be overclocking the i5 with a decent speed boost. (Such as my current rig with amd fx 8320 oc to 4.4ghz from 3.5ghz). Also I chose 960 because it fits the case. 970 doesn't seem to fit unless we are talking about asus's half size one.

 

That's cool then, just making sure.   It's really easy to get bad advice on things like that.  even on here we occasionally get debates about the value of K series and Z97 mobos for non over clockers.

I would suggest a better but less expensive ssd, a better psu, and an IPS panel monitor.

 

The Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 will fit in the case with the optical drive bays removed. If that is not an option, then the Asus Strix GTX 970 and EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 will also fit.
