Multiple GPUs?

Right now i have an Asus Geforce GTX 750 Ti and my brother has a HIS Radeon HD 7770.

My brother is considering buying two GTX 770s so i had a couple of questions.

1. Can i use his 7770 with my 750 ti?

2. If i cannot use bother cards simultaneously, which card should i use?
3. Would it be possible in stead, split the 770s so my brother and i would each get one on top of the GPUs we already have?

Thanks in advance! :D

1. No.

2. GTX 750Ti

3. Why not just stick with your own, and your brother can have his two cards. Yours is fine.

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

1 You can only use together 2 GPUs of the same chip and construction.

You can use 2 750Ti, 2 770, or 2 7770, but you can't mix-match any of them.

2 The 750Ti is a better card.

3 You can try to get one of the 770s from him and each have one of them.

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

Right now, no. What you're trying to do is impossible. With DirectX 12, multi-GPU support is THEORETICALLY possible, but not guaranteed so I would give up on this. Just use the GTX 750ti.

^ This. You could just run the 7770 dedicated for extra monitors for putting stuff on it. That's about all it would be good for imo.

Your brother probably also shouldn't be buying 2 770s unless he's getting a really good deal.

50% discount

What does the 50% discount work out to? And if they are used, count on no warranty etc. Along with the issues that comes with running multiple graphics cards.

Though. In terms of raw performance. Them two 770's is pretty mint.

I think the price on Amazon or Newegg is around $300-$350 per 770. He is getting two for $300.

What kind of issues come with running dual graphics cards??

they dont scale perfectly, so if 1 gives 50FPS 2 will give 90FPS for example, also some games just dont support SLI, so only 1 gpu will be utilised, 2 GPUs = 2x the power usage, he needs to make sure his PSU can handle it (abot 700 should be enough).

Higher Temps, higher power draw, some frame stuttering. And some games don't scale well (or work at all) with more than a single card.

Something like a single R9 290x or a GTX 970 might perform slightly worse in games that scale close to 100% with multiple cards. But idk.
