So I just bought an R9 280X today, current setup other than that being an AMD FX-4300 8GB ram, pretty basic really. Every other game, tomb raider, evolve, all work fine at highest settings.. I open up skyrim, ultra, and in some cases even lowering settings like turning shadows low, I get 40 normally, and 20-30 staring over all of whiterun from dragonreach. All my drivers are installed, v-sync the nasty bugger is turned off. So what could be causing this issue? Again it's just this game.

Damn, Did you uninstall old graphics drivers if you had any installed? and what is your cpu usage at when playing skyrim?

Could be an issue. Mind telling me how I can safely uninstall old drivers?

Do you use ENB? The enblocal.ini will screw your framerates if you dont properly set it up for a new GPU.

I appreciate the kind reply about it :) Yeah I'm going to upgrade to an intel I5 4960K? I believe that was the one.

 

Just a small typo - it is the 4690K :P but yeah, that one is the go-to for good gaming :) Oh, and don't forget to change the motherboard also :D
