AVG antivirus is super laggy and freezes computer

acercon

does this happen to you guys as well? when ever i open avg my computer would become super slow ( get that is normal because it is scanning) but it freezes my computer for like 2 secs then smooth again then same thing especially when it is finishing up. i tried reinstall it, it didnt help just wondering if it is just avg and thinking if i should move to a different anti virus

This is what happens when i finishes :  http://gyazo.com/9cc9bc5144e9e2175840bba4450390be

edit the settings

there are all kinds of options for resource management and CPU allocation

you can reduce the load on your computer, it will just take longer to finish scanning

personally I have it to not do full scans automatically, only when I tell it to

it already checks all downloads so a full scan isnt necessary every day

I checked your specs, your system shouldnt lag like that even under a full load scan

when was the last time you did a clean install? AVG is probably running into some bad sectors on your drive which causes it to freeze up

yeah thats because AVG does a full scan which searches every place on your drive

malwarebytes only scans file systems and heuristics while games only use the few GBs that the games are on...

but if AVG is having problems doing a full scan that probably means something is wrong with your drive

check crystaldiskinfo for the drive condition, and check windows event viewer for any errors
