I just wanted to say, I'm in love with h.265

I am not one to torrent tv shows, that would be completely wrong.   But if I was one to do so, the prospect of dropping a 1.5+GB 1080p tv episode down to ~500MB for similar quality, is sublime.  It makes me so happy... or it would if I did such things.  Everyone who does not encode videos in h.265 is a communist and hates life, screw mobile devices, it's all about computers.

I am impelled not to squeak like a grateful and frightened mouse, but to roar...

Yeah They're pretty similar but with a few differences.

Is H.265 also known as HEVC? A while back, I was watching a movie on a laptop, and it lags big time. My media player (GOM) doesn't seem to handle it well. Tried it with VLC--same thing. Turns out the video was in H.265 and after updating my media player, it was able to play the movie. 

I want to build a rig, but I'm not a gamer.   :mellow:

H.265 is bae. I may or may not have come across a video encoded with H.265 a couple weeks ago, and its beautiful. The only thing that sucks is neither of my Blu-ray players can read it and that's what the majority of viewers in my house use, so for the time being I'm stuck with crappy H.264.

I would love to see the benefits of it too, however I have heard that at the moment it isn't as good as it sounds.
