HALP - 4K OR 1440

Go to solution Solved by whitedragon101,

Both video editing & gaming..Primarily editing

It all depends then on Windows 10 scaling.  On OS X on a Mac the scaling is amazing so you get the most out of the resolution.  In that scenario 4K absolutely crushes 1440p for desktop use. I have seen this first hand, I looked at 1440p then at 4K, 1440p looked fine until I saw 4K.  Basically you are making the jump to a retina screen.

So screen wise 4K crushes 1440p on the desktop. Text and everything else is much sharper.  However, if you are on a PC it all depends how Windows scales.  I haven't seen this yet first hand but I would hope they can get it right for the launch of Windows 10.

So I plan a major GPU/Display overhaul in the coming months

I'll be running a TItan X or 2 980Ti's in SLI, just can't decide on a monitor, HALP!
I've had my eyes on an Acer predator XB270HU though I was quickly turned off by the constantly mentioned back-light bleeding...& also the gloss finish
, ugh.

anyway..If money were not an object, would you go 4k OR 2560x1440? (preferably an IPS panel)

Is it just for gaming?

Depends on the size of the panel.

If its a 27", I'd go for 1440p, if its like 32" or larger, probably 4K.
