Hey guys im building another pc and its going to be for some light gameing and im using this pc about once evry 2 weeks. Im going to play source engine games. Cod 4, indie games, Borderlands 2, and Chivalry Medieval Warfare. I want these games to play at good frame rates at 1280x720, I'll play 1280x720 low settings for games other than source engine games and indie games, the more demanding games I'll play low settings. So here is the build I had in mind: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/MrAlexOneill/saved/1ZxA

Please say your suggestions if I should change stuff for the best.

P.S: Im adding a case in that build (Of Course) but its not on the pc part picker. The case I want is either the Nzxt Source 210 because it looks good for a budget case. Or the Fractal design core 1000.

Thanks

Looks good. With low builds like that, even a rebate / dicount or two makes a difference. While most people do builds in one go, others buy it part by part and watch out for discounts. I suggest the latter, and maybe you will be able to cut down even more.

Why is part picker saying the ram is not compatible with board ;/ ?

Things is, if you buy things slowly over time, not only do some components go out of date before others, but you find yourself constantly looking out to buy new things that you all of a sudden justify that you need, and then go over budget. I prefer to buy things all in one go, just because then I know that I spent X amount on my computer (I'm very disorganised in case you can't tell). I'm probably $2000+ into my $1600 budget atm, lol.

If you do decide to go that route, I'd set a date at which point you will buy the rest of the pieces, regardless of available sales. Otherwise you'll be searching forever for that amazing deal.

Otherwise, nice looking build in budget.

Wit is educated insolence.

This build is for my fathers house because my parents are divorce, my build at my moms house is far far better. I only see my dad once every 2 weeks so I don't need anything fancy. Think of it this way, this budget pc is my console for my fathers house.

Just make sure you don't go over budget and you should be good.

Go for old parts.  I picked up a Dell Optiplex 760, tossed in an SSD and an HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 and it costed a total of 190 dollars.  I would of recommended the sapphire HD 7750 as it NEEDS to be a single slot but it's faster and runs cooler.  Here are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.2GHz 6MB L2 Cache

2x2GB DDR2 800MHz

HD 6670 1GB GDDR5

60GB OCZ Vertex 3 SSD

For 300 I coulda gone for HD7750 1GB GDDR5, another 4GB of ram and maybe upgrade the CPU to a QX6700/6800 if I forgo-ed the SSD.

Specs: Core I7-2600K @ 4.5GHz @ 1.35V, 4x4GB Corsair Vengeance Black 1600MHz CL9, Cooler Master Evo 212, MSI Z77 Mpower Motherboard, Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 Vapor-X @ 1000/1400, Cooler Master HAF 932 Blue Edition w/ 3 Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 120MM fans (2 up top 1 in the bottom) replaced side panel with a window, and rear fan with a Cougar Hydraulic Bearing 140MM, Cooler Master GX 650 80+ Bronze PSU, Samsung DVD-RW, Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD, Seagate 750GB SATA III 7200RPM

I have an xp machine that I think has a dual core athlon. Maybe, just maybe I can put a 7730 when it comes out and a new HDD with a 60gb sad caching.

Looks solid. I'd say $5 more for the extra 500GB though.
