If anyone here has shipped a computer before, how have you packaged them? Particularly ones with large graphics cards, CPU heat sinks, or mechanical hard drives. I don't imagine it'd take much during shipping to damage a heavy/delicate part, are there any preventative measures to take while shipping a computer(other than foam around the case)? Thanks for your feedback!

I wasn't quite sure where to put this post, so hopefully general is the right place :s

The pink bubble wrap seams to work the best, I us it when I move so my pc does not get damaged

I would remove anything loose and hanging. Shipping damage happens, a small one foot drop is enough to cause damage to the pci slot and motherboard.

Best thing to do is remove large heavy objects that are "freely" in the case such as gpu's and possibly massive heatsinks.

Once removed package in antistatic bags with bubble wrap and secure inside to the bottom of the case.

Other options can include using a dense foam cut to exact size and wedged in such ways to prevent any movement inside the case. You could also try making some make shift harnesses but that would require some sort of additional modifications to the case to ensure everything is secured down.

Overall the best option is to remove everything that is weighted and directly attached to the motherboard and either ship them separate or in a box inside the case.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.
