So yesterday i went to a friend to help install his new GPU. We removed all drivers using DDU, removed the old GPU, and put in the new Asus Matrix R9 290X. We connected it to the screen using the same HDMI cable he used before, but the screen said it didnt detect the cable. The GPU does have power, fans spin and lights are on and all that. We tried reseating the GPU several times, tried different inputs on the monitor, and tried a DVI cable today as well, but the screen doesnt detect any input. The old GPU still works as normal. So.. anything else we can do? Or should we just try to RMA it?

Does the old GPU use the same power cables as that 290X @SpagettiNinja ?

The old one uses 8+6 pin, the new one uses 8+8 pin, but yes, we use exactly the same cables. They are two 6+2 pin cables.

Reset the motherboard completely. I got a free lga1155 motherboard that wouldnt use a graphics card. Reset it and now it works.

Try a BIOS update for the motherboard first also try a BIOS reset.

@iamdarkyoshi

Will try those things.

But it can use the old GPU. Will try as said above, though.

We tried updating the bios and resetting the bios, and even using the secondary bios, but still no response.

Plug a second monitor into the onboard graphics and boot it up into windows. See if it shows in the device manager.

Two problems with that.. No second monitors, and no video output in the motherboard.
