why does the eksbay ddc 3.2 pwm 5.24 single slot pump/res combo (http://www.ekwb.com/shop/reservoirs-and-acc/res-pump-combo/ek-ddc/ek-sbay-ddc-3-2-pwm-incl-pump.html) cost more than three times as much as the xs-pc x20 420 5.25 single slot pump/res combo (http://www.performance-pcs.com/x2o-420-single-bayres-pump.html) . Even when the xspc combo unit is configured on performance-pcs.com with a custom LED and custom colored cable sleeveing and custom colored heatchrink the price is 3 times lower than that of the ek option!!!

differences that i know of:

  • The ek combo offers pump replacment options unlike the xspc option.
  • The pump in the ek option is also able to be controled with a pwm header.
  • The xspc option has two inlets so in my build one can be used as an actual inlet while the other is used as a temperature monitoring plug/sensor (http://www.performance-pcs.com/xspc-lcd-temperature-sensor-v2-black-white-g1-4-plug-sensor.html)
  • in the pureoverclock.com review of the xspc option they mention pump noise as a negative factor

Stating the obvious: I need a single bay pump/res combo so telling me to look at other pump/ res options which do not mount in a 5.25 inch bay is stupid.

The EK uses a higher quality standardized DDC pump, and I would assume better construction quality

but XSPC isnt bad

@Enderman

even then why is there a 3x price different (more if u take into consideration that it is sold for 165 on the ek website but when added to your cart, the tax bumps it up to 201.29 (however this does not happen on performance-pc.com))
