no video signal help

OK so I just bought a new msi a78m-e35, amd athlon x4 860k and g skills rip jaw for my friend so I'm installing everything and it's down to the graphics card part he has a xfx radeon hd 6850 and when I plug it in make sure all connecter are plugged I turn it on no video signal. He states that it worked when he was using the old hardware and I have tyred everything in the books and it still is giving me no video signal please help

Try a different cable, try different ports. No signal trouble shooting 101. Also known as common sense.

Try a different gpu. If it works then the 6850 is dead.

Check BIOS make sure UMA isn't selected as display/graphics
