Would a gigabyte g1 gtx 970 fit in the case of a pre ordered HP 700-215xt?

impossible to tell, you will have to try and measure it yourself.

The G1 970 is 12.28" x 5.08", so if your case has that much room next to the PCI slot, then it should fit.

I had to study the picture well. :P It should, but airflow for the ass end might be a little low. Cables might get in the way too.

Granted, that's a fixable problem, all @IMadeYouReadThis would need to do is buy a decent aftermarket case, which I would highly recommend anyways because HP cases are absolute CRAP. Even if that case could fit a Gigabyte 970, I would definitely get a new case with some more fans for better cooling.
