Witcher 3 very impressed

I must spread the word. This is a good title! My expectations weren't too high since I didn;t really get into the 2nd one and Dragon Age Inquisition just destroyed my soul after waiting 3 years for it just to be  a pile of shit. So I wont ever get my hopes up for a game ever again. Thank you BioWare.

 

After doing the new Nvidia drivers and messing with the settings I found my sweet spot and started her up. Only 4 hours in and haven't even killed the griffon yet (yeah spoiler. you kill a griffon off the bat) but the dialogue, environment, horse back riding, M+K binds and combat are really good. very impressed so far. Even the card game is kinda fun. 

 

the only thing that pains me is my piece of shit 23" 1080p monitor... it is not doing this game justice with them 970s... Draenor can be shelved until patch 6.2 with this game 100%

Debatable, most new games I can barely hit 60fps on 1080p on Ultra so 2 x 970s are required to even get a taste of my 144Hz at 1080p nevermind 1440p

I ran the witcher 3 (1080p) on my gtx 970 at 1582Mhz with every setting on ultra but high water/grass/shadows. With hairworks enabled of corse. Only dipped to 59fps sofar!

 

It seems like the lighting of the textures at extreme draw distances arn't "dumbed down." It looks very similar to the 2013 trailer, but the leaked compairison screenshots show the textures poorly lit and degraded... Anyone second this?

IMO YES. Huge fan of 1 and 2 (yes even 2) and waiting and waiting for that shit skyrim rip off was a huge let down in my adult life.... fuck that game. I played Origins and half of 2 again since DAI was released. Just found out about some patch with free DLC and multiplayer shit and I dont even care to get it. 

 

What settings did you manage with 2 x 970s?

 

Honestly after the new drivers and a few restarts of the game and my PC I just hit the Optimized button on the Nvidia panel and go from there. Some settings were on high and the rest on Ultra. have to check after work for ya. but I honestly think my monitor is holding me back with my cards and CPU

Well my 970 is running at around 400+ MHz over stock boost clocks. Getting to a toasty 81C too

Wait what??? who the fuck said that??? Assassin's Creed Unity was probably the worst game I ever played for free. I spent 2 hours just running around stupid France and didn't kill a single person! Just a lot of jumping and running. Was so stupid to a new player to the series, like me, who wanted to be a ASSASSIN and shank someone. It kinda looked dated too.. like Sega Dreamcast graphics. 

 

After the awesome tutorial ( WAAYYY better then Withcer 2 combat tutorial) and once you start the game within like the first 15 minutes you kill some wolves and see a naked girl that is not overweight like my eX. You dont spam that button to see herbs and hidden items like Witcher 2, you hold Rt Click and its much easier. Then walk over stuff and hit E to collect. Very simple and effective. Dodging attacks is fluid. Rolling seems to be less bulky then the 2nd game. Gerralt can make the choice to be a sweet boy or a douche bag. If you are on a trail jus thold Left Shift and your horse follows the path and a decent speed. 

 

this is all my personal experience and first impressions of the game and I ate too many percocets and went to bed so I didn;t get far. But I am excited to delve in to this title and learn and play more. IMO every other game in the RPG genera sucked or got boring after a few day- which is why I went back to Warcraft in January.... This game is holding my attention after day 1 with no research or excitement before its release.The last 2 RPGs I loved were Dragon Age Origins and Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. DA:I, Divinity Original Sin, Pillars of eternity, H1Z1, Goat Simulator   BF4, AC Unity Shadow of Mordor etc all got boring after a short while or just plain sucked to ME. 

 

TLDR?

Witcher 3 is so far so good and as Boogie2988 said "every game out there SUCKS that's why I went back to WoW. Where is my authenticator. SHIT" Witcher 3 os holding my attention so far

I was talking about the graphics not the gameplay. (AC Unity gameplay was horrible and the game is still barely playable due to bugs)

I admire his use of a real name sorta and a pic of Taylor Swift but i strongly disagree with his opinion of the graphics on W3 and ACU... like I said, AC felt like I was playing that Dreamcast game Shemeui or however you spell it...
