Grand Theft Auto V Update Issues

Go to solution Solved by Rohith_Kumar_Sp,

Me and my friend bought GTA V physical version last month. Unfortunately my board died and replacement came in last week. The game needs an update of 5GB to run. My friend have already downloaded update and is now playing the game. What I am asking is if I copy and replace his full game directory with mine will I be able to skip out the update ? I started downloading and it downloads at like 50kbs. It will take very long. Thanks

yes it works, replace the folder called "update" and open social club.

EDIT : don't need to copy the entire folder, but if you wish you can, and when you open social club it will verify files and start the game.

it should work, but moving 60GBcould take longer (depending on hardware, though given you and he are playing GTA V I would expect copying would be faster)

That is a lot for friends. Copying using a USB 3 HDD at 100MBS. So that wont be a problem

if you are copying the entire game, doesn't matter what you do.

If it's not mandatory there is no need for me to copy the full game I guess. Now tell me should I delete Update folder or overwrite it ?

apply logic

if you copy and replace entire folder it's the same as deleting the folder and copying it lol

It worked. I copied full game over and the social club took 30 seconds or so to verify the files and in a minute I am at the in game menu. Thanks a lot friends
