My power supply gave up the ghost so I've ordered a new one.

I thought three days without a PC was ok....NOT.

I drug out all my junk drawers and boxes and slapped together a little Frankenstein machine. Just for internet and stuff.

AMD 4350 and a Gigabyte 78LMT. That MB is still SATA 2 btw.lol...

But every night,I'm kicked back in bed with the PC up on the 52" on the bedroom wall. Using my iPad and Splashtop to surf the web...When out of the blue comes this Norton warning of high CPU usage by Chrome...

I react the same every time...WHAT!?!

I glance over at the desk and there it is...the little micro ATX Asus case sitting in front of my real computer...Oh yeeaaaaah....Within a few hours though...WHAT!?!

And when I'm on Battle Log,I keep clicking the BF4 tab to play a round and it tells me to insert disk one...WHAT!?!

So I ask...just how burned into your daily routine is your favorite PC?

And a side question....What's the worst case scenario for my bad PSU? It just powered down instantly. No smoke or burning smell. Just stopped working.

Earlier it made a loud crack and powered down but I couldn't find a problem and powered back up. It was fine until the first round of BF4 and it simply powered down.

Any risk of damage on the MB or to the CPU?

That's called an addiction :P when my PC died I was without a new one for 10 days. Got to play the infamous "real life" game.

Worst case scenario is that it's dead. You should test your mbo and cpu with new psu to know what's what.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

Give up the ghost is common here in the UK, too.

I get this when I'm using a Core 2 Duo laptop which I upgraded with an Evo 840 SSD. Everything is fine for a while, then the fan goes nuts. "WHAAAAT?"

Oh yeah, I'm not on my i5 with 8GB of RAM. Lol.

With everything unplugged,I hooked a 350W PSU to the CPU power and 24 pin power.

The tower lit up and all the fans spooled up.

I was afraid to try it with the GPU plugged in though but it seemed like the PC powered up.

The 350W has a 4 pin CPU plug and my rig has an 8 pin recept.....However...this temp rig also has an 8 pin recept and I'm powering it with a 4 pin plug.lol...

Not afraid of damaging this one though.

Well...it's ALIVE!

The company that ripped me off on the PSU sent me an "upgraded" replacement.

I don't trust it much but I used it to see if my PC was rekt....It's not.

The BIOS went back to default and all my tweaks are gone but it posted after a few tries.

I'm posting this reply with it.

The replacement they sent is a Thermaltake TR2 600W.

I'll use it in the spare machine so I will have an actual 8 pin CPU plug and I can do away with that 4 pin I'm using now.

I have a Lepa 550W coming later this week.
