Potential bottle neck?

Go to solution Solved by msvelev,

hmmmm.....food for thought.

They should do better than a single titan x in games with good xfire support. However, I'd get the stronger single card solution, but waiting for a 980ti/390x seems like the best option to me.

I'm noob be kind PLZ... :)

Hey guys,

I need some advice.

I want to upgrade to a GTX Titan X.

ATM i have a G.1 Killer guerilla 1366 mobo with an i7 960

With 2X HD6850's

My Question is:

Will my old 1366 socket Mobo and CPU be a massive bottle neck.

if so, i will look into upgrade

Thanks in advance

Orbis

I'm going to guess yes, the cpu will be a bottleneck for the titan x.

It will be a small bottleneck yes, but not hugely noticeable in most cases.

Its a cpu that can still beat amd fx line. It will be fine. Optimal no but I wouldn't hesitate to buy  a titan x. Or wait a another month or so and wait to see how the 390x performs. It could be a bargain compared to the price of a titan. NVIDIA is relasing the 980ti in the near future also so me perosnally I would hold off on buying a titan.

splash some cash.... haha

I want to jump head first into 4k gaming.

and I like shiny, new, top level gear.

I've been frothing over the titan since its release.

May I sujest 2 of these they would be great for 4k as well, and save you 270$.http://pcpartpicker.com/part/sapphire-video-card-1003618gl

At stock I'd expect it to bottleneck significantly.  My overclocked Phenom II has slight better single-threaded performance than the the 960 at stock, and it will marginally bottleneck a 760 or 280.
