Should I get this LGA 1155 Motherboard?

Hello all, I was looking for a cheap 1155 motherboard to go with my locked i5. Would this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-OPTIPLEX-790-MOTHERBOARD-D28YY-SYSTEM-MAIN-BOARD-LGA-1155-/281691217382?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41961adde6) be suitable? I don't need any fancy features so this would seem OK to go with. What do you guys think?

It depends on what you are going to use it for. It lacks things like USB 3.0 and only has 6 USB 2.0 ports

It depends on what you are going to use it for. It lacks things like USB 3.0 and only has 4 USB 2.0 ports

I am still on USB 2.0 for the most part so I don't care much for that. I also have a dongle with like 6 usb ports so the amount of those isn't a problem either

Ok keep in mind there are probably some better options. Spending a little more money in this case probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Unless you are trying to do like an extra budget build.

20$ is appealing, 20 for a mobo isn't much, I'd say go ahead and get it. If you don't like it, get something else. But that also depends if you're on a budget.

What is your budget? I have the Dell Optiplex 790 Mid Tower system and it is great... If you have extra room in your budget, I would suggest the motherboard for the mid tower system because it is more of a mainstream motherboard. Also, do you plan to use this on your Dell system? Dell motherboards are locked down to Dell components, meaning the connectors found within the motherboard are specific to Dell only and you can't use aftermarket cases, fans, etc...

I was probably either going to put this in my current system which is custom built and no Dell oem components, or for a DIY extra build for the fun of it.

I might go for it, if there isn't problems with a Dell motherboard locking itself down from using other components like @aexirogaming suggested :P

Hows the BIOS interface? Would that be a problem at all for troubleshooting?

You may be able to adapt many of the connectors. The motherboard being locked issue is actually what led me into building my own system. I originally won the Optiplex 790 on Ebay and planned to upgrade it from it's stock state, but then discovered I couldn't even replace the CPU cooler.

Just spend a bit more and get an aftermarket board. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ASUS-P8H61-M-LX2-R2-0-LGA-1155-Intel-H61-Micro-ATX-Intel-Motherboard-Used-/261893122549?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cfa0be9f5

$20 = cheap...that's about it....

$55-75 = 3 year warranty, USB 3.0, more SATA III ports, maybe one PCIe 3.0 x16 lane

Spend $20, then have the board die or your needs evolve and it isn't sufficient any longer, then spend another $55 on the cheapest non-refurb option, and you're right back at $75 for a decent B75/H61 board...which you should have gotten in the first place.

I work on fleets of Dell Optiplex's from the 745-765 daily, and it's a terrible hardware experience. After the 765 the company stopped purchasing from Dell and moved to HP because of how many issues they ran into....not that HP is much better, a shitbox is a shitbox. IMO you should save yourself the trouble- plan once, buy once.
