How to take the pictures from a .gif?

How can I get the individual pics that make up the animation, like the frames?

Open up GIMP 2.8 and just drag the .gif into it.

All pictures (frames) from the gif will be on their own layer in Gimp

I think if you put it in Photoshop, it has each frame as a layer?

Well, don't know how to do it in PS.

I do know it's a pretty easy in Gimp, so that's why I suggested it
