Computer fails to start into windows

Go to solution Solved by 2ot,

Alright turning it down to 3.5 solved the problem but why didnt this happen earlier is my question now. I mean its been over a year since ive gotten this pc and i overclocked it the week it was assembled.

OK, yesterday when i just came back  home i decided to turn my pc on. Everything was running normally till i realized that this was the second time the pc is trying to boot. At first I just shrugged it off and selected start windows normally.(or whatever that selection is). As it says logging on it stays there for 2 seconds and one of my fans go louder than my monitor looses connection and it restarts. Sometimes it gives me an error saying that my cpu is overheating at 45 degrees celsius. I can get into all of the safe modes but it wont let me into the regular windows. I have had this pc for a year and this is the first time this has happened.

Specs-

Cpu-Intel 4770k Stock Cooler @ 4.2Ghz

Gpu-Evga Gtx 970 SSC

Memory-Corsair Vengeance @2400Mhz

Motherboard-Asus ROG Maximus Hero 6

Power Supply-Evga 750W Supernova Gold+

Case-Cm Storm Trooper

HDD-1Terabyte WD Blue

SSD-120Gigabyte Samsung EVO 840

Optical Drive-LG Basic B*itch(idk the name)

ALSO I turned the CPU down to 4.0 Ghz and it booted yesterday
If its just a mobo problem ill be glad cause i have a warranty for it.

Honetly i have not seen it go past 60 degrees Celsius during my usage of gaming streaming etc. Could the boot error be because i enabled the igpu for streaming?

no. Reset CMOS and don't even touch the clock speed.

not sure why its prob due to the thermal paste or something

Hey 2ot,

Glad to hear you've resolved it. As it was mentioned, maybe the thermal paste is failing or one of the sensors is reporting false readings. It is recommended to use a custom CPU Cooler if you are doing overclocking for better performance and safer cooling (to prevent problems such as these).
