That's your problem then you need to take the motherboard out and put them in the designated holes which should be in your case manual since your motherboard is ATX you need to put them in the holes marked ATX. You should be able to leave the cooler on as your taking the motherboard out.

No standoff installed o_O, I don't know how you managed to not short circuit anything. You can remove the motherboard without removing the cooler from it.

Why the heck are the thumb screws crooked?!

They should all go in flush.

 

 

In your WiFi card picture, did you use a drill to thread the thumb screw in?

I am seeing curly metal savings around the threads of the screw...

 

 

Regardless, good that you now have the motherboard stand-offs installed (I don't know how your motherboard is not fried), and your GTX 970 is in and ready to go.
