Is Kingston feeding me bullshit or are their ssds not actually less than advertised?

I'm going to link pictures of my emails with Kingston about this but I'm going to just go over some things before you read it. So I was looking through my twitter feed and I saw Newegg advertising the Kingston v300 and I was annoyed. I personally have that SSD and on CrystalDisk I get lower than half the advertised speed on that SSD. Then, even with me using vulgar language Kingston responded to me on twitter saying that they'll redirect me to an SSD specialist. So I did and he said something about compressing or something (I'm not really good with data terms) and that's why I'm asking you guys to tell me what did that specialist is actually saying. Is he speaking of the truth and that their speeds can't be truly read by CrystalDisk or is he just spewing random bullshit so I wont complain about their SSD ever again?

V300s are slower than advertised.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/7763/an-update-to-kingston-ssdnow-v300-a-switch-to-slower-micron-nand

As for CrystalDiskMark not being accurate, I'm not sure, but the V300 has known speed issues because of a unannounced switch to Micron NAND.

I don't remember if the SSD has compression or not but if it does then testing non-compressible data should only yield at most a 15% performance loss not 50%. Kingston swapped out the NAND in the V300 to NAND that's half the speed without telling anybody. The old bait and switch tacit.

I can vouch for this I in fact have 4 v300s

2 are from before the unannounced NAND switch and 2 are from after and holy shit what a difference. Like saturating a 6gb/s lane to being around 300 mB/s :( really a shame they were so cheap and I liked them so much... oh well.

Try ATTO. Crystalmark is old and uses uncompressed data where ATTO is compressed.

Yup atto is the way to go. here is a pic of two of the original v300s running in RAID 0

EDIT: this is after quite a bit of use and they're about 3/4 filled

840's slow down after a while, so don't buy them (I'm not sure about 850's).

Pro's don't... I have a few 256GB 840 Pro's, bought new, still rocking 548/518 rates with only 30-40gb free on each,...But guessing your talking about the normal ones.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
