Gpu 8pin & 6pin cables

I've got an Msi Gtx 970 G4 with 8x6 power connection. Power supply is a SeaSonic 750 or 850 full modular.

Currently I have two separate cables coming from the Psu to the card. But the cables have two connections on the ends - a 6+2 connection and another 6+2 branching from the first.

Am I right to assume that i can't power this card from just the one cable? It would be nice to tidy up the cable lines, as my N200 case doesn't have room behind the motherboard tray. But I wanted solid advice before I fried my card or something.

You can use a single cable. The excess two pin will simply dangle.

I currently power my Windforce 970 with a single cable.(it's overvolted and overclocked)

You can power it from one cable just bend the extra 2 pins put of the way. They're both tied into the same 12v rail anyway more than likely. Adding another cable will make no difference.

It'll be perfectly fine. I have my 970 and N200 as well and I feel the cable management struggle lol, running my 970 off a single strand perfectly fine.
