A good camera for me

Hi,

I'd like to start photography, however I don't know what to start with.

I like the idea of nature photography as I have lots of nice areas around my home.

My budget is £400ish and must include everything I need :)

Thanks,

-Harry

I had to do a photography course for me to be a "Certified" photographer. I completed my course using a digi cam but it was time to upgrade. I got a "Nikon Coolpix P510". It is an absolutely awesome camera and cost us within the region of 400-500 dollars at the time.It takes breathtaking photos, especially in my landscape photographs and closeups. Its a great bridge camera with many options but if your looking for a DSLR then i'd rather recommend a Canon/Nikon. Dont really trust any of the other brands. ^ My opinion. Hope it helped!

***Edit***

You'll need to decide whether you want a Digi-cam, a Bridge-camera or a DSLR.

The Canon 1200D is a good DSLR in that price range. I use one for myself.

Just read your New Hobby post, I'd go with a T5i if you find it on sale.

I trip to make the fall shorter

Do you want to do landscape photography or wildlife. You'd need a good lens for wildlife. Check DxoMark for camera quality.

1200D is really meh when compared to D3200 and 100D.

You might want to look for weather resistance. It's nice if you get caught in the rain while taking photos and dirt+sand won't make it inside.

You'll  need:

1. A camera

2. A good lens*

3. An SD card (fast one! for exemple SanDisc Extreme or Extreme PLUS) Try and get 32Gb or at least 16Gb.

4. A bag or a rucksac is nice to have.

5. A tripod for stable photos or if you'll wanna do some timelapse or night photography*

*If you can spend a bit more on a camera at first and you can get that later after you know you're realy into photography or wanna step up your game.

I'm going to go against the grain here. Bank your money. Take your phone, go out, and start taking landscape photos. Read up on composition and apply the principals. Then, once you have a handle on composition, get Understanding Exposure and read up. Start messing with manual settings with your phone camera. Then come back and see what is holding you back equipment wise so you don't buy anything really unnecessary.

I totaly agree! I taught he has already done everything and want's to take another step. Importaint thing about the photographer is not his gear but his eye and sense for creating photo art. I h8 it when someone says "Wow a nice camera you've got there" or "What a big lens". You can make good photos with anything you just get gear to save time or get better image quality.

Don't get it wrong but basicaly i want to say a 5000$ computer won't make my grandfather better at playing minesweeper.

something like a sony A6000 are starting to get cheap, and would make a decent camera for time to come, especially when you mount EF lenses or something else to it
