Difference between a modem and a router

Hey there fellow LMG followers!

 

Just a quick question that I have been unsure on for a while now, what is the difference between a modem and a router and what do each of the items actually do?

A modem takes the information whether it be DSL or Cable and converts it into something the computer can understand. A router takes that information and tells it where to go.
