BOTH!!

But to really answer your question, it does depend on the game style.

Racing/FPS - High Framerate.

Simulation/Eye candy/almost anything else - Ultra settings.

Honestly IMO the best "Gaming" monitor to speak would be the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009769&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=Because yougot that 1440p for games like GTA V Wither 3 Ect. But you also have that amazing 144hz 1 MS response times for CS:GO and ect... For $500 its really nice. Also to "Resolve" The orange thing plasti dip the stand (Unless you got a wall mount or something) and put some plastic and stuff over the monitor, Get a spray bottle of water to make sure paint DOES NOT hit the monitor and you could sprak paint it I guess.

Set Windows to use 24-30hz refresh for that epicly glorious cinematic Windows mouse movement experience..

/I prefer higher refresh moreso than higher fidelity, but if I can have both in my games, I will.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Which do you think is more important?

Simple as this, Fast paced games such as; CS:GO, DiRT Rally, Project Cars, higher refresh rate is recommended due to much faster motion of the player, cars, and environment

Slower paced games such as; Arma 3, Witcher, Divinity, higher detail is recommended due to slower camera, player, and environment movements

Your goal should be to get a constant 100+fps before raising up graphics. The difference between 144hz and 60hz is huge.

Fractal Design Define R4 | MSI x79a-GD45 | 3960X @ 4.6Ghz | Lots of EK Blocks | EVGA GTX780Ti 3GB | Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4x4) DDR3 1866 | Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SSD | Western Digital Red 2TB x4 (Raid 10) | Corsair AX760 | Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

When I'm over over 60 fps, I'll turn up the graphics. I don't need the extra frames beyond that point

Well isn't that something you do beforehand, PUMP THE SETTINGS TO MAX!

Also isn't that what Vsync is for?

Because he had a hard drive.
