FruitBasketSilex

Thinking about picking up an SSD and a Tower cooler for 50$ each. Any suggestions on the tower cooler?

The Zalman Max is a large cooler that supports all RAM, performs similarly to the NH-D14 and is $50.

I wonder if theres a better part out there.  I'm planning on getting this one myself :)

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

It performs very well for the price. Also it is very silent. You should be able to OC quite well with it.

I edited previous post and added another option.

Both coolers are 160mm height. Personaly I have no experience with the Cryorg one but I heard only praise about it.

Would I be able to go up to 1.3-1.35v with it, while not going over about 85-90c?

That really depends on your chip.

I can go 1.3V with my Dark Rock Pro 2 while hitting 80-85*C but my case is not really well airflow optimised and also I have Windforce 770 dumping heat into my case. My chip is also not very good so that may be part of the problem too.

I think you should be able to get 1.3V with good airflow with around 75-80*C.

EDIT:

Also my ambient temperature is usualy around 27*C - 30*C and that makes quite a bit of difference.

EDIT2:

Looking at this review of the low profile Shadow Rock cooler just shows me how bad my chip actualy is. Deliding would help for sure.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/be-quiet-shadow-rock-lp-cpu-cooler-review,8.html

1.3V i7 4690k at 4.6GHz and he is geting 84*C max (LOW PROFILE).

So I am prety confident that Shadow Rock 2 should handle 1.35V just fine if your chip is good and not as bad as mine.

I'd also recommend the Hyper 212 Evo. I run it on my i7-4790k with the fan it came with, and another noctua fan. Temps never go above 58C when gaming and about 62 - 63 on load.

I would go for a Rajintek Nemesis and a 120GB 850 EVO if you can stretch your budget a bit.

CPU Cooler: RAIJINTEK NEMESIS 70.2 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($54.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($69.99) - price at Newegg. PCP isn't accurate.
Total: $124.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available
Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-05-07 19:57 EDT-0400

Use the code EMCASAV27 to get $7 off the EVO. Performance will be miles ahead off any junk $50 SSD.

I would go for that, but I CANNOT stretch my budget at all.

I was thinking the shadow rock 2 and a sp600 for about 95$.

Well not sure if you like the slim but see the benchmarks anyway, it's around a U14S.

Ehh, no not really. It's just a smaller cooler that's better than a 212 Evo and roughly around the same as a U12/14S.

Thinking about picking up an SSD and a Tower cooler for 50$ each. Any suggestions on the tower cooler?

My grandma's PC had a 6 core i7 with 32gb of DDR4 RAM and the CPU was under a CM 212 EVO. It's an amazing cooler for nearly everything. My OC'd FX-6300 gets to 47DC max in Prime95 (Ambient 18DC) As long as you aren't planning to get an FX-9590 and overclocking it further, the CM 212 EVO is great. I'm not sure how hot 4790k's get though so maybe this isn't helpful. 212 EVO for like $30, 850 EVO for like $70. All the EVOs!

I'm actually thinking of getting a mouse instead of a CPU cooler now, may go the other way, but my cooler of choice is a shadow rock 2.

Friend stole my mouse, so i kind of need one.

Also, do you happen to know if a

Transcend MTS800 64GB M.2-2280 fits in a Z97 Gaming 7 from MSI?

I wouldn't really get an M.2 SSD as of right now, since we're not hitting the SATA3 bottleneck at all yet with single drives, and SATA is more widely supported then M.2 is incase you ever switch to another mobo without M.2. 850 EVO is amazing at $70 if you can afford it

I'm on a strict 100$ budget. I'm looking at m.2 for lower price and lower size.

Apparently the mts800 has a write spead of 80mb/s so it's out of the question as my OS drive. I need something 45-55$ that is capable of good speeds both ways. Sata and M.2 botjh work for me.
