Best 960?

Go to solution Solved by nhatduy1611,

Alll of them are good although the gygabyte one has the highest core clock out of the box. I would get a 280x though since it's more powerful and has more vram.https://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9280xtdfd

I am looking for tha best GTX 960 at around $200. I am looking at these: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-gtx9602gd5toc, this one https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn960wf2oc2gd , or this one https://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp42963kr . Which one would you reccomend, or would you reccomend another one?

Pentium G3258, R9 280X, Corsair CS600M, Gigabyte GA-H81M-H, 2 Random monitors, a no-name keyboard, a cheap $15 Logitech mouse.

Out of the 3, I'd take the EVGA one. Or alternatively a 280x.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

the only 960 i would recommend is the 4gb 960, other than that the 280x, as the 960 with 2gb of vram just isnt worth it, i have a 260x and i find it annoying i cant use high textures in gta v but at the same time its a cheap card xD

I don't think I have that good of a psu, only a 450 watt Corsair.

Out of your choise, I'd save up a bit more and get the 970.

I don't have that much money.

I might look at a R9 280x, but I'm worried about PSU requirements.

What are your requirements in a graphics card. What is important to you, list those + what powersupply you have and we can decide which is best.

Based on what, I haven't seen a single requirement. How can you be so sure that's the best option except for blind brand-preference.

I am really looking at a 960 because of power requirements. I have a spare PSU, could I do dual PSUs with my 450 watt as the GPU only one and my 350 watt as my system one?

Edit: the spare is this one: http://athenapower.com/product/power-supply/micro-ps3/ap-mps3atx35p8

260X and the 960 are on complete ends of the spectrum. Its not because of the 2GB, its because the 260X doesn't have that much GPU power. The 260X is pretty much a PS4 GPU.

Why do people start japping 280X again without asking what he wants with it. You people are like yorkshire terriers.

My favorite is when you politely ask why OP should get an HD7970 instead, and they get offended, start a flame war, and then you are blamed for starting the flame war.

With your CPU, the 960 is the best choice. I strongly recommend you overclock it though, it will give you some more decent FPS in games.

The CPU? I have a H81 Mobo, and every time I OC, it breaks and won't show any video thru my GT 610.

With that CPU you can easily run a 960 on a single 450 PSU. The 280X might also still work, but it's just not worth it on a stock celeron (in terms of investment as it's more expensive). Plus the VRAM discussion is moot for those 1080p cards. Ignore the pundits.

Yeap checked your profile before recommending the 280x. The 450 80+ gold is cutting it very close but you can still run it.

No overclocks though...

Wasn't planning on it. I would just max all the sliders and break my card.

Might just be fine then. You can overclock it if you ever plan on buying a better PSU in the future.

But the card already runs well in stock.

Good for you, but don't make judgments for 1080p when the resolution you use has less than half the pixels of 1080.
