Xeon for rendering

im assuming a 4 core 8 thread xeon at 2.7gHz would absolutely boss theough rendering at 1080p60fps for youtube?

It would be heavily dependant on the software being used.

And cost anywhere from 75% to 150% more!

The E5-5620. Would oc to 5.8ghz probs.

Uh. You might want to to get something a bit newer.

Also, you can not over clock Xeons, and 5.8ghz can only be achieved with a reallly exotic cooling solution, so...

How much are you looking to spend just on the CPU?

I would buy it used for as cheap as physically possible

The minute you attempt to cheap-out is when you start getting bad things.

 

If you absolutely must get a cheap RENDERING machine, then a FX-8350 is the way to go.

 

If you want to get a good intel, a larger core XEON or a 4790K would be good. If you don't care about OCing etc, then the Xeon 1231 v3 might be the best idea.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

I think you would be better with a E3-1231 v3 rather than the one you considered

Cpu:i5-4690k Gpu:r9 280x with some other things
