I think he was referring to processed sugars, not healthy sugars..

Sugar is sugar. What I said remains true for both natural and artificial. If you consume too much energy, your body will store it as fat which causes you to gain weight. Cutting it out is not the answer - reducing the consumption of sugar and increasing activity is. The "healthy" sugar you're referring to is the type that releases slowly into the bloodstream. The "unhealthy" kind is the type that releases quickly into the bloodstream causing a sugar high temporarily and then crashing.

Diets are not good because once you leave the diet you'll quickly go back to whatever weight and level of fitness you were before the diet.

Best thing to do is to just start lifting and running. If you're a teenager you've got no excuse. You've got a young body. If you are an out of shape, gaming couch potato it's going to suck but it's for the best. Get your phone and download a free Couch to 5k app and follow it to the T. It starts you off easily enough with lots of walking breaks but within a couple months you are slowly jogging for 30min without stopping. Great starting point.

The gym can be intimidating to newcomers but really, no one will be looking at you. I actually prefer newbies working out around me actually because it ensures that the weights I want to use will be available.  :). Just look up an easy workout plan and follow it till you know your way around. I suggest doing chest and triceps on one day, back and biceps on another and legs by themselves. Throw in a shoulders and some cardio days.

Do that and you'll feel amazing about yourself and not have to worry about limiting what you eat. Obviously it's good to cut things like soda out and greasy foods but if you do the above you won't need it.

No junk food, plenty of protein.

Work out for a minimum 3 hours a day.

No point in dieting, this way you'll gain muscle, too.

Don't work out three hours a day. Especially not at first. I've been lifting and playing sports my whole life and I never go to the gym for three hours at a time unless I'm just playing basketball. Three hours is very excessive if you are talking about cardio and weight lifting without the sport aspect.
