Hey all, so I've been having some troubles booting lately.

I was running 4.4GHz at 1.3200v for a month or two on my 3570k. Everything was fine until a few days ago when I told my computer to reboot, and after the windows logo instead of a login screen, i got a BSOD 0x000000F4. I tried rebooting a few times and consistently got the same BSOD. Now after fiddling around with the settings a bit it takes me 1.3200v to run 4.0GHz. I know every chip is different, but something has to be going wrong with this. Chip degradation doesn't just happen that fast does it? I don't know what to do

Also, before this I was running around the same settings (4.4 1.3ish volts) on an ASRock z77 Extreme4 for about 5 or 6 months.

I appreciate any and all help, 1.3200v to do 4.0GHz seems absolutely ludicrous, and a chip degrading in 6 months like that with only 1.3ish volts in it seems unlikely.

What did you use to test the overclock?

I've passed IBT at maximum and ~20 hours of prime95. I've been stable for months, but all of a sudden I cannot even get into windows with said settings I was stable with.

Were you able to reboot before with no issues?

yes, everything was perfectly stable for months. It was just yesterday that I was unable to get into windows with those settings.

Degradatuíons can happen very fast. The degradation speed is also somewhat dependend on the chip itself. But 6 month does sound like a very short time.

Did you install any programs that put unnecessary stress on the CPU?

And are you running the latest bios? It mght help stabalize the overclock

Nothing that I'm aware of that would have started to kill the chip, the only stress tests I have are Prime and IBT, which I haven't ran in a little while.

I'll try updating the BIOS now, but I just failed to boot at 4.0GHz too, despite having booted a few times at those settings. Restored everything to default =\

Any code with an F in it means Windows problem to me.

1.32v isn't much.

You think there could be a windows problem? How would I go about dealing with this.

Come to think of it, there was a few windows updates in the past couple of days. Maybe that could be a problem?

Well one thing you can do, remove the OC and see if it posts, if it does then you need more V now to run at that speed, i know TinyTomLogan has increased the V to his chip because sometghing like this has happened

Hey there. You are looking mighty fine today, have my virtual cookie!

Try doing a System Restore if you can with some kind of recovery disc.

Hi I am having the same problem as you I have been running my 3570k at 4.8ghz with 1.445 volts and after only 4 months it needed more but temps were too high 85-90 with the h80i. I have recently lowered the volts to 1.35 and I am only able to get 4.5ghz out of mine I used to be able to get 4.5ghz on 1.32 volts and I also noticed that my base clock has dropped to 99.6 but this happens only under load. I am using the msiz77a-gd65 original (blue). I find this to be very odd.

Alright, so in order, here is what happened.

System restored, couldn't boot at all. Wasn't even BSODing, just getting locked on black screen after windows logo.

After a few reboots, managed to get into windows at stock speeds.

Tried to change settings to see if the restore worked, got in at 4.4/1.32v.

Tried to reboot to see if it was completely stable, black screen again, about two or three times in a row, followed by the same 0x000000F4 BSOD.

Changed BIOS settings back to stock, got to windows login but keyboard and mouse didn't work.

One final reboot got me into windows.

This is just pure chaos, I can't seem to diagnose anything. Is this a windows problem? The restore did work too, removed the windows updates that were applied in the past few days and still no luck.

I have the same problem with my i7 3930K, but my issue is BIOS related unlike yours. If it's not stable at stock speeds you should definitely consider RMA.
