How to test tempertures? REALLY

How does this testing work, the fans are at different voltages and the gpu fan is at different speeds. Is it just me or is this weird. I normally come here instead of going to review websites and its the first time ive gone to this website but its confusing me.

Just touch the heatsink and then lick your finger. If you burn your tongue its too hot.

I dont mind measuring temps and volts and all that jazz but come on. Make it a fair test, the fans rpms and voltages need a certain speed for that review site or just overall.

Use a thermometer. If it is too hot your computer has a virus, I'd recommend a bowl of chicken soup and a damp cloth.

 

Not really though.

What would you do? Put the cloth on the south bridge for example and then say on the review website that the cloth got quite hot.
