For rendering/WS I'd take the AMD setup.  I'd replace the Mobo with a 990fx board though.

Id take Intel if you are doing both, fx if purely rendering

If you plan on doing any gaming at all, get the i5, if not, go with the FX, with the knowledge that the highest you can go is the FX-9590.

I will be using it for rendering and as a workstation? and light gaming.

Could you put the approximatley render times of both for a 10 min video, if you dont know them make a guess.

i5 is better for gaming and other single core performance stuff

FX is better for rendering and stuff where more cores = more better

AMD slightly better for workstation, core i5 much better for gaming though...
