Anybody know where I can find a bunch of emulators for 1980s coin ops? I wanna put an arcade on my computer. Just read ready player one, and now I have to experience the 80s, since I wasn't alive then.

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

What system? Is it on any home console or nah?

Or is like one of those arcade machines?

Pretty sure linking ROMs is not allowed  (because it is a gray area), but talking about it is alright.

Emulators are not illegal, but ROMs sometimes are

You could just tell me the name of the website, and then I would have to go find it... So it's not linking...?

Windows 8.1 laptop

I meant what system is the game you're looking to emulate on? :P

I don't know any emulators for arcade machines, but do know some for home consoles (like a PS1, N64, NES or SNES emulator for your PC)

You should get Mame32, it's the most well known arcade (not console, arcade) emulator out there. It's not illegal, as it doesn't come with any games at all.

The sketchy part is downloading the Mame32 games (which come in large package with hundreds of them), which I can't provide links or info to.

same thing and download ROMs is a very grey area legally so I prefer not to say

plenty of sites around if you google like MAME roms or whatever

Regarding emulator, Roms are legal as long as you own the game and so are emulators. The only gray part is the bios.
