FX 6300 clock?

Hey, 

I am currently running an amd fx 6300 cpu on a gigabyte 990fx. The problem is, that I have overclocked this bad boy at 4.6ghz with 1.412vcore on a hyper 212 evo. The problem is , when I run prime95 tests on hwmonitor some for the cores seem to drop to 3 ghz and then they just go up again. What's going on with the clocks? The temperatures are just fine.

You can try 4.5hz at 1.38 volts

I guess, but thats not the point. My problem is that I cant get stable clock speed and I have disabled Cool n Quiet.

Try my settings 4.5gz at 1.38 volts it stable for me, only 1 blue screen for 2month now.

 Your settings no boot up. 1.356 volts and 4.6 booted up let me run some tests now. But when Im stress testing, im supposed to use 100% of each core. It doesnt apply to my system though... All my cores 100% but I still get the clock drops

No two CPUs are the same. You can't arbitrarily tell someone "hey these settings work for me they'll work for you". It doesn't work that way.

@markoskerass try a different benchmark like AIDA64 and see how the cores react. Strange that with a 990FX its almost like you're being throttled by the VRMs. HWmonitor may show you VRM temps, but if not use HWinfo and see what they're running at.

That's definitely strange. See normally you would see a corresponding drop in CPU usage along with each dip in clock frequency which would be explained by downtime between test functions. Instead its just like an actual core hiccup.

Definitely a strange one. Out of curiosity what happens if you drop your overclock by a hundred MHz or so? Have you tried that?

The cpu @4.4 ghz does the same thing.

@markoskerass your BIOS should have some options for addressing vDroop. That might be a good thing to look for. You can also watch for voltage fluctuations in HWmonitor but it may not refresh fast enough to show it.

I know the Asus setups have active phase management and offset adjustments so I would imagine the Gigabyte boards would incorporate something similar.

Edit: Yes, as it seems it is the vcore. If i put hwmonitor and coretemp next to eachother , when voltage drops at least 1 of the cores go to 3ghz..... But I cant find a way to get rid of it... So yeah, its vdrop..

Another term for it is load line calibration. I'll take a look at your BIOS options after work today if youre still having trouble, see what I can find to help.

the gigabyte boards from what i have heard have bad vdroop which means you have to turn the load line calibration on high to make sure you can get it stable
