[HELP] i5-3330 for $100?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

It will work no doubt, just update the BIOS to the latest one.

I've been looking to purchase a second hand CPU to upgrade my dad's PC and i recently found someone online in my local classifieds selling an i5-3330 CPU for $150, but i managed to get him to go down to $100-125 (due to age).

Right now, my biggest concern is whether or not it will fit in my old motherboard or if i'll have to purchase another one. The CPU i had in that board was an i7-2600k and i am hoping i don't have to buy another board.

Any suggestions or comments will help :D

You need to have a working system built on the board, then follow the above steps You will need to put the BIOS file on a flash drive.

i7-2600K to a i5-3330 is a downgrade... there's no point in getting it unless you plan to use the i7 in another PC.

I'm using the i7-2600k in my current build, but downsizing the PC (getting rid of my ATX board) therefore using the ATX board for a semi-build for my dad's PC.

It is, yes. However, like you said, i'm using the i7 in another PC (see above)
